Gentlemen,

I have the honour to inform you that Mr Cooper who is in the Mr McLean's Department assisting him in obtaining land from the natives, - having arrived in Wellington, His Honour The Superintendent will request that Gentleman to settle the terms of the lease from *Epuni (sic) of the land you desire at the Korokoro.

In order to assist Mr Cooper in completing the arrangements, it will be necessary for you to furnish me with the terms proposed between yourselves and Epuni (sic), and it would be very desirable that this information should be accompanied by a plan of the ground, specifying as nearly as possible the precise Situation and area of the land you propose to occupy on lease.
