Sherbone Abbey contains Percy family pews. The weighbridge house building (foreground) is all that remains of the weighbridge built by Joseph Percy 1759-1828.

 

 

Joseph Hewlett Percy (1797-1864) c.1830. Joseph arrived with his family on the Chilfton at Wellington Harbour 17 Feb 1842.

   Joseph Percy Jnr. (1821-1886). c.1840. Eldest son of Joseph Hewlett and Esther Mary Percy.  

Annie Maria Percy nee' Welch (1829-1901). Wife of Joseph Percy Jnr.

 

 

 

 

   Joseph Henry Percy (1849-1910). Eldest son of Joseph Jnr. and Annie Maria Percy. The only one of eight children to marry and continue the Petone Percy line.  

 Ada Percy nee' Everest (1861-1937) Wife of Joseph Henry Percy.

 

 

   Te Puni Paramount Chief Ngati Atiawa and signatory to the Treay of Waitangi. The Petone chief leased land to the Percy family and was staunch in his friendship for 30 years.

 

 

Eliza Renall nee' Percy (1824-1874) c.1840. Daughter of Joseph Hewlett Percy.

   Eliza Renall (nee' Percy) married to Alfred Renall M.P.

 

 

 Alfred Renall M.P.  "A huge man in stature and in deeds he carried out."

 The Percy reunion 1999 held at Copthorne Resort, Masterton. After a visit to the original Percy farms Te Ore Ore and Bideford, a pilgrimage was made the following day to the Petone Percy Reserve.
