Summary
SO WHAT HAVE WE ACHIEVED SINCE I STARTED THIS SEARCH
TEN YEARS AGO?
- We have shown that our over 200 year old Sherborne family provenances of descent through the Gunpowder Plotters (and his older brother Alan’s) family line, and to carry the extinct Louvain-Percy male bloodline are closely entwined. The proving of one, validates the other.
- We have established a close Digby (Earl Digby of Sherborne Castle) and our Percy family connection in Sherborne, just as in the Gunpowder Plot.
- We have proven the same Parish (Taunton St Mary Magdalene) and same first names connection with the Gunpowder Plotter’s and his brothers family, but because of the ‘Civil War interregnum” where the puritans were wrecking churches and destroying records, not absolute proof of our John Purse/y being the son of the Plotters 2nd Taunton grandson Thomas Percy.
- We have also shown a strong case for descent through The Plotters older brother Alan Percy’s senior line (of Beverley) that includes similar first names including a concentration of six Edwards in seven consecutive generations when combined with our proven Taunton St Mary Magdalene line.
- We have exposed the probability of 17th century unrecorded intrigues between the powerful vested interest—a compliant London College of Arms that contributed to the extinction of the old male Percy line—the vested interests control over the future of the lapsed Earldom and it also ensured that the “Gunpowder Plotter” Thomas Percy and his older brother Alan Percy’s (M.P. of Beverley) cadet Percy Beverley line descendants would never accede to their natural rights of Louvain—Percy male descent.
We have also established that only by exhumation—yDNA analyses with Sherborne/New Zealand Percy male descendants, can we resolve the absolute existence today of the old revered male line and the integrity of England’s Percy history.
Apart from my frustrations that are exasperated by advancing years and diminishing skills, it has been a rewarding
‘Pilgrimage for the truth’
